Clouds pouring off the Glyderau 🧐

This phenomenon happens as a warmer and humid air mass is blown in off the Irish Sea and pushed up and over a mountain range. Cooler temps and lower pressures at mountain elevations cause the water vapor to condense out as clouds/fog.

Our view is looking across the Ogwen Valley as the clouds are pushed toward us over the Glyderau. As the clouds come down the hill towards us, the air mass warms up and the clouds evaporate away. Cool.

This is part of why mountain navigation can be so tricky. One range south and we would have been in total cloud cover with little visibility. As the tourists queued for their #snowdonsummit
pic in the clouds, we enjoyed fine views and bright sunshine 😎.

A collection of favorites from the past year or so. I've had the privilege of working and playing in many forests this past year, some old and familiar and some novel and new. Ranging from the grand hardwoods and wet flatwoods of the Great Lakes to the new-to-me ancient woodlands and Celtic rainforests of Wales, England, and Scotland, these are the trees that ground us and breathe life into our shared planet. Go hug a tree for me - I'll bet you won't be left with regret :)

Had one of those hot-damn-good-time full-up excellent weekends. Sunshine. The best humans. Jeffrey scooped one ice fishing and Mark & fam came by for a visit. I bought some land! (Well a few months ago I did.) Been busy getting to know the place - it's a nice spot :) Kept after it with some winter camping, fam forest fun, and generally just out in it! And a haircut too (thx @rose.montrose)

Marking the moment. Today, I sent my Weestrom on to its new rider with a solid dose of nostalgia and adrenaline. Together, we rode the south, along the back of the dragon on those blue ridges. The Great Lakes. Around the interlobate and points north to Basswood. It's been one hell of an adventure, here's to looking forward and living into the moment. This bike took me on some good rides, the last one being down Platt Road. It's in the space, that's where opportunity is. Looking forward to what this one brings :)
